Community Connections

Community learning experiences are integrated into facility services to provide individuals with creative and diverse choices that enhance meaningful day services.  ALTEC staff support individuals in small group activities that enable relationships to be built, skills to be taught, new opportunities to be discovered and lives to be enriched.  Individuals have options to participate in physical wellness programs in a local fitness center, aquatic exercise, attend classes at the local library, visit historic sights and much more.  

Volunteer opportunities at various non-profit organizations throughout the community are available for individuals that want to give back to their community and enhance their own personal, social and work skills.  Currently, we are supporting small groups at Nova Thrift Shop, Impact, Care & Share, Dogtown, Pawsabilities Catshelter & Thrift store, the SPCA, Daily Bread Pantry, Bretherin Church Pantry, Meals on Wheels and Manna on Main Street.

Arrangements can also be made for individuals interested in participating in one of the following Community Partnerships:

    Therapeutic Horseback Riding and grooming at Sebastian Riding Associates and The Take Center

    Tai Chi Classes

    Massage Therapy

Music Therapy – either within the facility by a licensed therapist from a Touch of Music or a small group session at the Music Conservatory

Pet Therapy

Dance Group sessions conducted by “Look Who’s Dancing”

Cooking classes
